O3 has a half-life of 40 minutes at 200C. Ozone is a gas that is unstable and quickly releases the nascent oxygen molecule, making it useful in medicine. O3 has numerous harmful consequences, but it also has many beneficial ones. Ozone therapy first became popular in Germany about a century ago.

 It is currently frequently used throughout Europe, Germany, Russia, Italy, France, and India.
